The theory of negative calories is not a new one. Some very fibrous vegetables, like celery and lettuce, are very low calorie and it is claimed by some that the energy cost of actually chewing, digesting and then absorbing these foods, is higher than the actual amount of energy they provide. So, following this theory, the net result would actually be negative calories thus helping to lose weight. Read more »

Mostly people in the world have no idea how much of water they should drink in a day. So they live from day to day in a dehydrated state. They don’t drink enough water. Next to air, water is the element most necessary for survival. Proper water intake is a key to weight loss. Alcohol is a potent antidepressant which affects the central nervous system. Drink it in moderation and you feel euphoric, little bit of lethargy and possibly confusion. As you continue you will spiral into stupor a coma and with excessiveness, death. You choose the state of mind you want to be in and let’s all hope it does not end up in the A & E. First of all, let’s start by talking about how exactly that thing that we dread, fat, enters our bodies. The process goes as follows; we put the food in our mouths, from there it makes its way down to our stomachs, and from our stomachs it goes into our intestines. It is in the intestines that some action finally starts taking place. It is here that the pancreas is given the signal to go ahead and release certain enzymes that attack the fat molecules, and break them down into what we call glycerol and fatty acids. Read more »

Several years ago, certain individuals in the fitness industry seized upon the fact that low to moderate intensity exercise is fuelled predominantly by fat, and that an optimum fat burning rate had previously been identified at 65% V02 max. Since that time further research has shed a little light on the claims.
- The Fat Burning Zone (FBZ) is not the optimum exercise intensity for weight management, fitness or performance. Read more »
