4 Simple Tips for Eating Healthy to Lose Weight

Nutrition, Weight loss Add comments

Many people find themselves battling their weight over and over again. Some try diet after diet, only to have the weight come back, and in some cases they become heavier than ever before. One of the best keys to losing weight and keeping it off is to start eating healthy. No, this is not a fad diet that you can quit after you lose a few pounds, but this is actually a new life choice that should be used for the rest of your life. If you want to lose some weight, the following are a few tips for eating healthy so you can lose the weight you been wanting to get rid of.

Tip #1 - Avoid Fried Food - One of the most important things you can do to eat healthy and lose weight is to start avoiding foods that are fried. Stop ordering fried foods when you eat out and stop making fried food at home. Fried food packs in far more calories than you are aware of. Yes, they may taste wonderful, but the large amount of calories and fat in these foods may be sabotaging your weight loss programs.

Tip #2 - Drink Water with Meals - Another important tip that will help you eat healthy and lose weight is to drink water before and during your meals. Not only is water very good for you, but drinking water will help you eat less during the meal. You can re-hydrate and curb your appetite all at the same time.

Tip #3 - Eat More Veggies - Eating more veggies in your diet is a great way to eat healthy and lose weight too. Veggies are packed with many vitamins and minerals that your body needs, but they are low in calories and fat too. When you eat veggies they usually fill you up pretty fast as well, so you will not be craving other types of food that is bad for you. What a great way to get great health benefits while you are working on losing weight as well.

Tip #4 - Beware of the Snacks - One of the worst downfalls for some people when they are trying to lose weight is their snacks. Many people snack on chips, crackers, and cookies, and these are not snacks that are healthy for you. While snacks are not bad by themselves, when you start eating snacks that are packed with fat and calories you will more than likely gain weight rather than lose weight. Start changing your snack habits and snacking on healthy foods like nuts, fruits and vegetables.

Eating healthy is a large part of the battle when you are trying to lose weight. Instead of going on a diet that only has you eating grapefruit or cabbage soup for a few weeks, why not change your lifestyle. Changing your life so you are eating healthy foods can improve your overall health as well as helping you lose those extra pounds too.

Extended Tips:

When having your meals, consume veggies at the very start of your meals. The volume of the vegetables fill up the space in your stomach and has the same effect as drinking water prior to your meals. When half of your stomach is filled up, theoratically you will consume only half of the food that you normally do.

Snacking on healthy foods must be done in moderation. The key to consuming anything is “Moderation”.

Be wary of the deceiving “95%/100% Fat Free”. Always check labels and make sure that you know what you are consuming. 100% Fat Free can and most of the time will mean 100% Sugar loaded.  And the kicker here is that excess sugar will turn into fat.
